The Holy Quest includes four casino-quality clay tokens, each representing one of the four religious orders in the game. These color-coded tokens are used to indicate alliances and team play, depending on the game mode.
At the start of the game, each player receives a token corresponding to their religious order. In the alliance mode, players can exchange tokens with other players to form an alliance and play as allies against other opponents. The teamwork mode uses the tokens to indicate which players are on the same team.
In certain play modes, the tokens are also used for scoring, as each token is worth a specific number of points. In these modes, players do not start with a token; they must earn them during gameplay. The scoring modes are separate from the teamwork and alliance modes, as scoring is only kept when alliances are not allowed. To learn all the details about using the alliance tokens, see the rules booklet.
